Shift from Surviving to Thriving

Shift from Surviving to Thriving

Bravery requires strength and resilience.

Counselling is all about you so you get to navigate through the sessions in the best way that suits your needs. I will meet you where you are and always walk alongside you, never in front, never behind, but together. Together we walk the uncharted territory of creating the life you always dreamed of.

This is your personal invitation to join me for a discovery counselling session and get you on your healing journey. Creating my counselling practice was greatly influenced by my own life experiences that translated into my own trauma.

Indigenous Connections

I started my career at SIIT (Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies) here in Saskatoon and completed two academic years there as the school counsellor.

It was obvious to me right away that I was passionately committed to supporting the students that sought out support and everyday relationships were built upon trust and respect.

When those two ingredients are present, healing can flow organically. From there I worked with Family Service Saskatoon, providing counselling from a trauma and violence-informed approach.

This is where I took many courses through Indigenous Awareness Canada Indigenous Awareness Training & Certification Canada (indigenousawarenesscanada.com) and attended meetings with the OTC (Office of Treaty Commissioner) to gain further knowledge and understanding.

Since April 2022 I have been working full-time in my private practice.

Since March 2023 I am on the board of directors for the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (CPCA)

2023 Training through the Center for Trauma Informed Practices - Violence Threat Risk Assessment from an Indigenous Perspective.

Who is Kristin Smith Counselling for?

KSC is for anyone ready to gain access to the tools needed to navigate their healing journey. Therapy plans are unique to each individual and healing isn't linear.

We TALK.  We ASSESS.  We TALK MORE.  We REASSESS. REPEAT.

Life is actually supposed to be hard. Through experiences (even painful ones) we experience personal growth and develop the confidence to overcome adversity. Therapy isn’t to stop life from being hard, therapy is to help you navigate through the hard. Sometimes life’s circumstances feel unbearable and you might want to give up but one day that wound can just be a scar that is a part of you, not who you are, if you are willing to put in the work.
